This Privacy Policy explains how Cam Scanner PDF Pro ("the Application", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. Please read it carefully before using the Application.
In short: Your documents, scans and photos never leave your device. We do not upload, store or view them. However, the Application displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, and uses Google Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, as described below.
1. Your Documents and Scans
All document processing happens entirely on your device. This includes camera scanning, cropping, image enhancement, PDF creation, PDF and Office file conversion, and text recognition (OCR).
- We do not upload, transmit, collect or store your scans, photos, PDF files or their contents.
- We operate no servers that receive your documents. We have no access to them at any time.
- Files you create are saved to your device's Documents folder and remain under your control. Deleting them in the Application or through your file manager removes them permanently from the device.
- Text recognition (OCR) runs offline on your device using Google ML Kit's on-device models. Recognized text is not sent anywhere.
2. Permissions We Request
- Camera: used only to capture document pages while you are scanning. Photos are processed on the device and are not transmitted.
- Storage (Android 9 and older only): used only to save the files you create into your device's Documents folder. On Android 10 and newer this permission is not required.
- You may deny or revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. Denying the camera permission only disables scanning; the rest of the Application continues to work.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Application displays advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve, measure and limit the frequency of ads, AdMob may collect and process the following, independently of us:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID) and device identifiers
- Device information such as model, operating system version and language
- Approximate location derived from the IP address
- Ad interaction data such as impressions and clicks
This data is collected and used by Google in accordance with its own policies. It is used to serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted. We do not receive your documents, contacts, precise location or any personally identifying information through advertising.
To learn how Google uses this data, see Google's policy on how it uses data from partner sites and apps.
Your choices: Users in regions where consent is required are asked for their advertising preferences the first time the Application runs, and can change that choice at any time from the Application's settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier and opt out of personalized advertising from Settings → Google → Ads on your Android device, or remove all advertising from the Application by purchasing the Premium subscription described below.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
The Application offers an optional Premium subscription that removes advertisements. All purchases are processed entirely by the Google Play Store billing system.
- We never see, receive, process or store your credit card number, payment details or financial data.
- The Application stores only whether your subscription is currently active, on your device. Your subscription status is verified with Google Play each time the Application starts.
- Subscription price, billing period, renewal and cancellation terms are shown by Google Play before you confirm the purchase. You can view or cancel your subscription at any time from the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
- Payments are subject to Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.
5. Analytics and Crash Reporting (Google Firebase)
The Application uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the Application is used and to detect technical problems. These services automatically collect:
- App events such as screen views, session count and session duration
- Device information such as model, operating system version, language and app version
- Country and approximate region derived from the IP address
- A randomly generated installation identifier and advertising identifiers
- Crash reports containing the technical state of the Application at the moment of a crash, such as the error message, stack trace and available device memory
This information is used solely to improve the stability and functionality of the Application. It never includes your documents, your scans or the text recognized from them. Data is encrypted in transit and processed by Google in accordance with the Firebase Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data We Store on Your Device
The Application stores a small amount of information locally on your device so it can work correctly. This information is never transmitted to us:
- Your selected interface language
- Whether you have already seen the introduction screens
- Your current subscription status
Uninstalling the Application removes this information. Documents you have created remain in your Documents folder unless you delete them.
7. Data Sharing and Selling
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Apart from the Google services described in sections 3, 4 and 5, we do not share data with any third party.
8. Children's Privacy
The Application is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the Application, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.
9. Data Retention and Your Rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal data on any server, there is no account to delete and no data for us to erase. You can remove all locally stored information at any time by clearing the Application's data or uninstalling it. If you would like the analytics and crash data associated with your installation to be deleted, contact us at the address below and we will process your request. For questions regarding data handled by Google through advertising or payments, please refer to Google's policies linked above.
10. Security
Because your documents stay on your device, their security depends on your device's own protections. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a screen lock, especially if you scan sensitive documents such as identity papers or contracts.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Application after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
